Sequencing for the Nervous System (not the hamstrings)

October 21 – November 6 (Registration coming soon!)

How do you know what poses go best together, and create an effect on the mind, the emotional state, and the nervous system?

If you want to help people relax, do you start with shavasana? restorative yoga? yoga nidra? Yin yoga?

If you want to help people feel more energized and confident – do you start with the Warriors? What other poses would you use and how do you decide what goes where?

Most of yoga sequencing out there is taught either because:
It is logically flowy or fun OR
It is biomechanically logical

But many people come to yoga for the mental health benefits – and many health care professionals refer their patients to yoga for mental health reasons – which means yoga teachers are often not prepared to offer sequences specific for the nervous system.

I’ve been training mental health professionals to understand yoga sequencing for the mind, the emotional state, the nervous system, and for eliciting neuroplasticity for the past 15 years.

I’d like to help yoga teachers learn how too – with sequences that are appropriate for group classes in any setting – and are accessible, practical, and trauma informed.

  • Help students use yoga specifically to improve their mental health
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the science behind it
  • Craft sequences that have a profound, intentional effect on the nervous system
