Prana, or lifeforce energy, is a field of study that has been taken up by researchers who have renamed it, “the biofield.” The biofield is defined as “a massless field, not necessarily electromagnetic, that surrounds and permeates living bodies and affects the body.” Ancient yoga practitioners recognized the importance of prana in healing. Now science is beginning to understand the mechanisms through which yoga affects healing. These mechanisms move beyond reductionist ideas about anatomy and physiology, and begin to integrate emergent systems of bioenergetics (like the electromagnetic field of the heart and the connectivity of neurons), into our understanding of healing.
In this introductory workshop, Kristine Kaoverii Weber, the founder of Subtle Yoga, will outline 3 key ways in which yoga affects healing via the biofield and then offer a 45 minute practice to demonstrate yoga techniques that you can use to create greater healing and wellness through your practice.
